Everyone should know the hunt plan, safety expectations, equipment, travel details and what happens after a successful hunt before the first hunting day begins.

Before you leave home

Confirm travel, license/tag status, hunt dates, equipment and any hunt-specific packing changes with Cody's team.

Arrival & lodge

Get settled at the Plains base camp, review the next day's timing and make sure your field gear is ready.

Safety & equipment

Review firearm or archery safety, target identification, guide instructions and the equipment you will carry.

Your hunt plan

The guide explains the likely terrain, hunt method, physical expectations, weather and how the day may change with conditions.

Communication

Know how the group will communicate in the field and what to do if the plan changes or the group becomes separated.

After the shot

Follow the guide's direction on approach, recovery, field care, meat handling and trophy/cape logistics.
